Calling All Volunteers!

Serving on a chapter committee is rewarding in many ways - make new friends, build your career, and help your chapter all at the same time. Read below about the committees that support the work of MPI THCC!

MPI International Chair Elect Fiona Pelham shares her insight on why volunteering is important:
 

CALL FOR CHAPTER 35th ANNIVERSARY EVENT CHAIR!

Are you a person who can plan and execute a flawless and memorable events?Can you lead a team of volunteers with diverse interests and backgrounds?
 
Do you absolutely love the MPI Hill Country Chapter and its history of success?

Are you willing to share your passion for MPI with the Hill Country meeting and events industry?
 
The Chapter is looking for that special individual who can pull together a team of Chapter members, old and new, to develop the plans and execute an extraordinary celebration of the Chapter’s 35th Anniversary in May 2019 during the annual Puttin' on the Ritz Celebration. The team leader and committee members will have the opportunity to design and execute an event, or events, that will display, reflect and celebrate the Chapter’s rich history.

Communication Committees

Marketing

This committee overviews all chapter communication (for brand and chapter standards), creating awareness of the chapter in the meeting industry through the promotion of chapter programs, projects, issues, and special events. Members of this committee will write or source relevant industru content for blogs, short articles, and website content. Members of this committee will also create member profiles and testimonials for the MPI THCC website, including short articles and video interviews.

Social Media

This highly exciting and energetic team will focus on engaging and connecting with MPI THCC members and nonmembers, industry professionals on social media. The responsibilities include building brand awareness, attracting traffic to the website, sponsor activations, and member engagement.

TEC Marketing

This committee is responsible for writing, proofreading, editing, and gathering content and digital collateral for MPI THCC’s signature educational event, the Texas Education Conference (TEC) in November. Committee members will create and share content during the conference, and also generate post-event recaps and followup information

Under the Oaks (Newsletter)

This committee is responsible for writing, editing, gathering content, as well as contributing design and ideas for Under the Oaks, THCC's e-newsletter that is published monthly. Members must be eager to write articles and source industry-related content that provides value to the MPI Membership.

Education Committees

CMP Study – Austin or San Antonio

The Certified Meeting Professional designation is a highly respected designation within the Meetings Industry. This committee is responsible for setting up CMP Introduction and the CMP Bootcamp study course that will provide training for candidates. The committee will secure a venue and all event details. Must be a current CMP to serve on this committee.

Education

This committee plans, coordinates and staffs chapter education events that can occur over breakfast, lunch or dinner. Duties include booking speakers, sponsor solicitation, site selection and onsite management.

Registration

This committee assists with registration onsite only for monthly programs, TEC, GMIS, and other MPI events - handing out name badges and greeting attendees upon arrival.

Texas Education Conference (TEC)

This committee is responsible for designing, coordinating and staffing the MPI THCC annual educational conference. This committee is also responsible for arranging facility, speakers, sponsors and activities.

Awards

This committee plans a successful recognition campaign to recognize MPI THCC members of their accomplishments and devotion to the chapter. Committee members will establish a recognition campaign, promote nominations throughout the year, and recognize members.

Community Outreach – Austin

This committee plans an annual community outreach program in the Austin area. This committee will work to benefit a non-profit organization whose mission, goals, and objectives affect the Meetings and Events Industry. Needs of the committee includes planning the model of this event, choosing an activity, and determining the benefitting charity. All to be voted on by the MPI-THCC board of directors.

This committee is responsible for the developing future leadership training and succession for MPI THCC. Many skills will carry over and can be useful or members’ future leadership of the chapter as well as daily jobs.

Membership Recruitment

Just like any organization, MPI THCC needs new members to continue the growth and success of our chapter. Members of this committee will design, plan and execute campaigns to recruit new members for MPI THCC.

Membership Retention

Membership retention is one of the most important elements of MPI THCC's success. Committee members will personally contact other members asking for feedback. They will also design or help implement membership retention initiatives throughout the year.

New Member / Peer Program

Remember when you had just joined the chapter? You didn't know anyone, and you weren't sure where to start or how to get involved with the chapter. Members of this committee personally contact and mentor new members of MPI THCC. Help new members learn the ropes of how to be most successful with the chapter. Let them know that they have a friend in the chapter who can answer questions and help them meet other chapter members.

Networking

This committee plans and executes chapter networking events in Austin and San Antonio and other networking strategies and activities or the networking hour at all monthly programs. Committee will find venues, plan, promote, coordinate and staff events.

Scholarship

Current chapter members can apply for scholarships that can be used to pay MPI membership dues, fees related to earning your CMP, registration fees for MPI conferences, and more. Committee members promote the scholarship program and judge the applications that are submitted.

Each year, we host an end of the year celebration. Join this committee to help plan this event from start to finish including determining a date, venue, sponsorships, and an exciting experience for all in the industry.
