 A Message From Your 2008-09 President

The carved pumpkins are gone, replaced by turkeys and twinkling holiday lights. I love the entire holiday season – from Halloween to New Year’s Eve. There’s something about the anticipation and preparation that reminds me to be thankful for my blessings of family and friends. The current economic situation and the uncertainty of the future has given me an even greater reason to be thankful for my MPI “family.” Our chapter is blessed with focused and dedicated volunteers. And, our chapter returns the bounty we enjoy to those less fortunate through our community outreach programs – Senior Companions in San Antonio and Sammy’s House in Austin. You recently received an email requesting donations for H-E-B gift cards for the Senior Companion volunteers – many of whom are as needy as those they assist. However, they willingly give of their time and talents to other seniors of less means. So, if you have already donated, thank you! If you have only a few dollars to spare, I encourage you to consider giving to our Senior Companions this season.
Give of your treasure and feel the reward of selfless giving – to the MPI-THCC support of the Senior Companions in San Antonio or whatever charity you choose during this holiday season. I promise, you will feel joy.
